About Luminosity Art

Designing and making is my passion and I feel totally blessed to live in such a beautiful and inspiring part of the world.

I've always loved arts and crafts however my relationship with glass only started 10 years ago.

After being taught the basics in an evening course I bought myself a second hand kiln and have never looked back!

During a field trip to St Ives, whilst studying at Plymouth's College of Art, a spotlit painting got me thinking...

Seeing how the piece had been tranformed using light I began to think of ways to incorporate this into my own work.

Luminosity Art was born in the spring of 2012 (taking its name from the means in which astronomers measure energy from the stars).

Light now plays a big part in my work. Some pieces are illuminated by candlelight or mounted in my unique LED box frames.

Being Green

As most of us do these days, I try to re-cycle where possible and do my bit to reduce my carbon footprint.
I always encourage people to use re-chargeable batteries in my illuminated designs - this is not only kinder to the planet but is more cost effective for them too.

Where possible I re-use packaging, always fill the kiln and every scrap of glass is kept and used for something. My greeting cards are made from re-cycled card and I love to incorporate natural products such as jute and raffia into my designs.
